Way to hit me right where I needed it. Thank you, Eunice.

I've been dodging the call to tithe for years because I'm barely making ends meet as it is.

But that's the point, isn't it? To be obedient and rely on Him even when logic says it doesn't make sense.

Yess, thatโ€™s exactly it, โ€œeven when logic says it doesnโ€™t make sense.โ€ More grace to you, Kevin and may God meet you at your place of need. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

When obedience begins to feel ordinary, it may be time to consecrate again. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

This is soo good! ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

I found myself thinking about Cain and Abel a little while ago, and the difference between their sacrifice (first fruits) unto the Lord. Itโ€™s interesting what you mentioned about giving becoming commonplace because it can become indistinguishable from our routine: sacrifice becomes an export rather than a sacrament of devotion.

And so, with Cain I noticed this:

โ€œWhen it was time for the harvest, Cain presented some of his crops as a gift to the Lord. Abel also brought a giftโ€”the fat portions of the firstborn lambs from his flock. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift, but he did not accept Cain and his gift.โ€ (Genesis 4:2-5) โ€” the difference is so subtle because both brought what appears to be satisfactory quantities, and yet while Cain brought โ€œsomeโ€ of his crops, Abel brought the bestโ€”beefiest potions of meat. He would forgo the nutritional benefits of those carvings as worship unto the Lord. It cost him more.

Thatโ€™s not to incite comparison between what we give and what others give, but rather motivates me to be more conscientious about what I give and to be open about what He actually wants from meโ€”not what I think will qualify for Him.

Thank you for the timely reminder! ๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿพ

Exactly this! Whenever I read the story of Cain and Abel this part always stands out to me.

โ€œSacrifice becomes an export rather than a sacrament of devotionโ€ is such WORD, my goodness. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and bringing up this example.

May we become more conscientious about our offerings and sacrifices unto God, even if that means ourselves as we are called to be living sacrifices. Stay blessed Christina ๐Ÿค
